This is something that concerns me. Sould I decide in future to have a hearing dog myself. Having to face things like that, if it was to happen knowing it was wrong. I wouldn't know if I had anymore fight left in me. But I do know like that chap said in the video. I wouldn't stay.
I do that work would not be an issue this time. As this was raised as an option to me last year, when my fire lecture was catered for me. So I have no worries there, if I was to have a hearing dog at some point in the future.
Dogs are a never-ending source of discontent. Dog lovers will justify anything and everything, there is a strong British animal rights lobby. As a deaf person and with an highly personal view (!), I never saw the point of an assistance dog. It offers companionship and in the home might prove of use if you live alone, but outside the home, I don't see its point, it is no way comparable or as necessary as a guide dog for the blind. So I feel those who take their dogs to food establishments etc, have no real case to answer, as averse to blind who have. Other issues prevent deaf having dogs, landlords who ban them, and (In my own personal case with an autistic child), he won't tolerate an animal anywhere near him, so even IF I wanted such a dog I couldn't. I've always preferred cats anyway :)
I like dogs as well as cats. Although at the moment I don't want any of either. As for regards to landlord. They are not allowed to stop you having a hearing dog. But yes there are landlords who wouldn't allow. Where I live. I'm not allowed a dog. :)
Landlords around here say you can ONLY Have one pet, fish ! I think we would all have a hard time taking them around with us lol.... I did a blog a year or so ago, that covered assistance animals, america has cats, dogs, even pigs listed.... along with tropical birds....
