Darren Walter, from Chadwell Heath, was found guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court on June 15 of one count of robbery and three counts of fraud.
The 47-year-old, of Colne Drive, was back in the same court for sentencing on July 12, when he was sent down for six years for the robbery, and six months for the fraud offences - sentences to run consecutively.
Walter was arrested after the theft in Nash Road, Romford, on June 2 last year. The elderly victim - a deaf woman in her 60s - was overcharged for work undertaken by the electrician she hired. Whilst discussing the bill, Walter stole £3,500 in cash from the woman's purse before leaving.
