The Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind Foundation has received a $1 million gift from an anonymous donor.
The Gadsden Times reports the gift received Monday will be used to develop a new agriculture centre. The centre will focus on giving students hands-on training to help them develop skills related to agriculture.
The centre will be located on 20-plus acres behind the Helen Keller School. More than $80 million has been raised and invested in the AIDB Foundation, which was established in 1980. The foundation was created to encourage private support from individuals, foundations and corporations. The AIDB foundation serves individuals who are deaf, blind and with other disabilities from birth through ageing.
